Criteria

HABJ
Scholarship — Eligibility Criteria
Competition
for the scholarships is open to junior or senior African-American
journalism/communications degree-seeking students who
are currently attending a Houston-area accredited four-year
institution or a community college student entering
into a four year-college in the fall of 2009 as a junior
or senior. Applicants attending a university outside
the Houston-area must have a permanent Houston address.

Major in Radio/TV/Film, broadcasting, print, photography,
online journalism, marketing and/or public relations |

Be
a full-time college/university student who will
be a full-time junior or senior in fall 2009 |

Attend
a four-year college or university in the 2009 Fall

Have
a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 |

Attend
the HABJ event for HABJ Scholars (i.e., scholarship
recipients)Submission Must Include the Following: |

Information
At the beginning of each academic semester
in the 2009-2010 school year, the scholarship will be
directly deposited to the recipient's college or university
upon proof of enrollment in the 2009-2010 school year.
All materials may be sent via US Mail (no FedEx) or
electronic mail and must be received by Wednesday, May 13, 2009
extended to Monday, June 1,
2009. All materials must be typewritten and submitted
on 8 _ x 11 white paper. Do not staple or fold papers.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. All
materials become property of HABJ and will not be returned.
