JOB POSTING NEWS REPORTER
KTRK-TV, an ABC O&O located in Houston, TX, has an
immediate opening for a full time News Reporter.
Candidates should have significant experience in general
assignment reporting, including Live ENG and satellite
work. Applicants must be able to develop contacts,
enterprise good, hard news stories, and respond well to
breaking and spot news. The ability to do features is
important as well, although this is primarily a hard news
position. Candidates must have outstanding writing skills
and the ability to make good use of graphics and
production equipment. This position includes mornings and
or weekend mornings.

| The Department of Languages and
Communication at Prairie View A&M University invites
applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor
in Communication position beginning
Fall 2009 to teach Media
Production courses that includes Film/TV Production,
Web Design, Photojournalism, and Broadcast Writing to
a departmental undergraduate student body of over 400.
Candidates with experience in professional film/TV
production preferred. This position requires teaching
four classes per semester and active participation in
program, department, and university activities and
events. |

The Senior Vice President, Publishing will lead the
strategic development of the Publishing business units
editorial and operational objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential:
Lead annual strategic plan development to deliver
overall publishing business goals.
Work closely with the CEO, COO and Editorial staff to
ensure that the content, look and feel of EBONY and JET
remain relevant to their core audiences but continue to
attract and retain a new generation of readers and
subscribers.
Ensure that the companys operations are lean, efficient
and effective and that the content of the magazines is
aligned to both reader and advertiser needs.
Establish and operationalize best-in-class systems and
processes (e.g., digitization of the pre-press and
printing processes).
Oversee and manage multi-million dollar publishing
budget.
Assess, develop, train and lead a first-class team.
Foster a working environment that stimulates open
communication, creativity, sharing of best practices
across the business and cultivate an environment of
teamwork and calculated risk-taking.
Key player on JPC leadership team.
Knowledge and Skills
15+ years of business leadership in the magazine
publishing world. Experience with lifestyle magazines a
plus.
Deep knowledge of the operations, marketing and
distribution side of the magazine business.
Strong restructuring experience and a track record of
successfully utilizing technology to build and optimize a
business.
A strong track record of working collaboratively within
a multi-unit organization.
Success in mobilizing an organization in line with
critical business priorities and the proven ability to
motivate and drive a large, efficient and effective
organization.
A deep understanding and/or experience managing a P&L
and experience in using quantitative data to inform
business decisions.
A hands-on, self-motivated individual who is undeterred
by significant challenge and difficult decisions.
Innovative, creative and visionary with good business
acumen and sound judgment, one who sees opportunities that
may escape others.
A strong editorial and creative sensibility. Someone who
recognizes and appreciates good journalism and good
design.
A strategic thinker, realistic and highly
results-oriented with a will to succeed.
A leader who is straightforward, articulate and
appropriately demanding.
